THAI army troops fired live rounds at anti-government Red Shirt protesters in the heart of Thailand’s capital yesterday, injuring more than 70 in a dramatic escalation of the month-long stand-off between demonstrators and security forces.
That quote is from the Sydney Morning Herald. Apparently 93 people (22 of which were soldiers) had to be transported to hospital with injuries. A few dozen of them had been shot.
Things are still pretty ugly in the capital from the sound of things. The Red Shirts are still calling for the resignation of the current government. They want new elections to take place. They met up at three protest sites across the city yesterday.
The skirmishes with Thai Army troops took place at the Makkawan Rangsan Bridge. Hopefully things get better soon.
