Thousands of prisoners across the UK are now waiting for an early release after Abdelbaset Ali al-Megrahi, the Lockerbie bomber was set free. Megrahi, 57, has prostate cancer and returned home on Thursday to Libya to a welcoming crowd. Many Libyan residents were waving Scottish flags.
In 2001 Megrahi received a life sentence after being convicted of the United Kingdom’s worst terrorist attack in 1988. He only served 9 years for the crimes.
When asked, convicted murder George Fletcher said, “I’ve only killed about 12 people. The Lockerbie Bomber killed 270. I think with the medical conditions I have – I should probably be let out as well.” Fletcher was further questioned about his conditions and he said that he suffered from severe heartburn. As of yet, Fletcher will not be released but we will keep you posted.
