British Airways to add surcharge

For the first time in more than two years, British Airways will raise fuel surcharge by £10 on its long distance flights. The airlines will add the extra £10 from Thursday onwards and depending upon the class of travel and distance, total surcharge will vary between £63 and £108.

Apple revenue soared during the third quarter, as iPads and Macintosh computers jumped off the shelves.

Apple Remains Progressively Ahead in Race to Profits

Apple Inc. sales took off during the third quarter of this year resulting in a profit of more than $4.3 billion. This was a significant increase over the same period last year, when the company saw a profit of $2.5 billion. During the quarter the Macintosh computers jumped off the shelf at a record pace, which was the primary reason for earnings soaring 70 per cent. Total revenue increased 67 per cent compared with 2009, as 43 per cent of sales originated in the US.

Coca Cola remains the top brand in the world.

Coca Cola Still on top of the World

Despite not matching the top technology companies in soaring value, Coca Cola remains the top brand in the world. The order of the next three are as follows – IBM, Microsoft, then Google. These results are part of the top 100 brands in the world presented in Interbrand’s 11th annual edition of the world’s best global brands. Coca Cola now practically owns the top spot, as they have been ranked best of the best 11 years in a row.

Six lenders compiled a market share of just over 92% last year for all mortgages in the UK.

Six High Street Banks Dominate Mortgage Lending Scene

The latest figures are out, and six high street lenders are dominating the mortgage lending market in the UK. They are doing this in rather impressive fashion also. The Council of Mortgage Lenders (CML) reported the six lenders compiled a market share of just over 92 per cent for last year, which carries with it a notable change from 2008. That year the “super” six only took about 80 per cent market share. This confirms one thing – consumers had few choices during the year of 2009. It was either that or most applicants could only “fit” into the lending criteria of these six banks.
