The UK General Sir David Richards has announced that after he takes over on August 28th the war in Afghanistan could be over in as little as 40 more years.
He said that it was his hope that only his son and his grandson would have to fight in Afghanistan and not his great grandson or great great grandson. This is a drastically smaller length of time expected to complete the mission. The last General expected UK troops to be there until at least the March of 2086.
