According to CNN, Obama’s popularity is starting to make a slow decline.
This is the 1st time since the president was elected that less than half of the US agreed with him on important issues. This is according to a Opinion Research/CNN poll that came out last Tuesday. Apparently 51% disagree with Obama on a number of important issues. That number was 41% in April of 2009 so it’s really jumped in that time.
These number are interesting but they can’t be half as low as the numbers that Bush had during his 8 years. That guys numbers were extra low.
And despite the disagreement on certain things, Obama is still seen as being very favourable by many people in the US. His approval rating as a President is still in the mid-50s and over 60% of the country feel he has the right qualities as a President. All good signs for Obama who has been weathering a storm of criticism over the last little while.
“It’s awfully early yet, but this president might be shaping up to be a little like Ronald Reagan, where people actually didn’t often agree with Ronald Reagan’s ideas, but they loved the guy,” said Paul Begala.
I don’t think Paul is right but we shall see how the coming days reveal Obama’s popularity. He has some important issues to decide on and you can’t always please everyone.
Not the most flattering photos.
