Jonathan Woodgate returned for Tottenham last night just as things were heating up, but kept his cool in a performance that exuded experience.
Woodgate, who has not played for over a year, came off the bench after Flamini ended Corluka’s night with a horror tackle, and slotted in alongside Michael Dawson, after Gallas stepped in at right back.
As Milan resorted to dirty tactics and long balls, Woodgate stood strong, and admitted it was good to be back.
“It was a great feeling to get back,” the 31-year-old told Sky Sports News.
“A lot of people doubted whether I could get back but you have got to show the determination to not let the bad times get you down.”
Woodgate echoed unanimous praise for his team’s performance, saying, “Full credit to the lads. It was a fantastic result for us.”
