Ryan Giggs has stated his intensions to continue playing for Manchester United for at least one more year.
The veteran Welshman continues to defy the odds by producing top class displays under Sir Alex Ferguson, and remains an ever present in the Scottish man’s side.
Giggs is currently under a rolling contract at Old Trafford, where his position is reviewed each season.
Many believed that the current season would be the last of the wingers 20 year illustrious career.
The 37 year old reiterated his desire to continue playing for the Premiership leaders, and does not see himself hanging up his boots just yet.
“I am quite happy still playing at the moment,” Giggs stated.
“I am really happy and enjoying my football as much as ever. I said if I was still enjoying myself and still getting picked I would carry on. We will sit down and talk but I am really looking forward to playing next year.
The news will come as a boost to Ferguson, who along with CEO David Gill have stated their intensions to tie the ever present Giggs down to another year for United.
Sir Alex earlier this week spoke of his admiration for Giggs describing him as an ‘extraordinary human being’.
“I spoke to Ryan a few days ago. He’s happy, he wants another year. It’s good news. You see his fitness and what can you say? He’s incredible. He can give another year, who knows maybe another two years, his fitness is so good” Stated Ferguson.
The news will come as a boost to Ferguson, who also announced that Antonio Valencia is nearing return to training following a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
