Blackburn Rovers have missed out on their attempt to sign Brazilian star Ronaldinho, after the player completed his move to Brazilian club Flamengo. Elsewhere, Redknapp is still hopeful of Beckham playing.

It is believed that Rovers had offered Ronaldinho a three year contract worth £20 million, but the playmaker shunned a move to the premiership club.

Harry Redknapp is still hopeful of securing the services of David Beckham as a player. Beckham began training with the club today, with Redknapp expressing his desire to select the 35 year old.

“Everybody has worked hard to get him here and we were hoping that he could come and play, obviously.

“They all grafted away and tried to get a deal done where he could play for us, but it was just a bit complicated.

The Spurs boss remained optimistic when he said; ‘I’d like it if we could get David. I think he would be good for us. But, you never know, see how it goes ‘.

Staying in London, Wayne Bridge arrived at Upton Park earlier to undergo a medical ahead of his move the West Ham.

Sebastian Larsson’s switch to Newcastle looks all but completed, while Aston Villa have upped their offer for Blackpool midfielder Charlie Adam.

Everton boss David Moyes has dismissed any move for Captain Phil Neville from Tottenham by insisting the experienced midfielder was going nowhere.

Across the city, Liverpool manager Kenny Daglish refused to rule out the possibility of adding to his squad.

Daglish stated his main priority was to work with the current squad, but also stated;
“If something comes up that is an attractive opportunity for the club then we may well take it. It’s impossible to say one way or another.”
