Tottenham boss Harry Redknapp has suggested that he would like to extend Jonathan Woodgates contract, despite the player spending most of his time with Tottenham on the injury table.
31-year-old Woodgate is one of the most naturally gifted defenders in the world, and when he is fit can be a real addition to any side.
Redknapp see’s past the injuries, and see’s a future for Woodgate, who still has plenty of running left in his legs.
Woodgate made a return to action after 16 months out against AC Milan, but strained his left adductor muscle and will now be out for another two weeks.
“Hopefully he will get a deal,” said Redknapp. “I want him to come back fit. He’s a great player.
“I’d love to see him get his career back on track because when I came here two years ago he was one of the first names on the sheet, a different class.
“He’s one of the best centre-halves around.
