Spurs boss Harry Redknapp has backed his current squad to go on to great things at White Hart Lane, starting with tonight’s clash away in the San Siro.

After finishing fourth in last season’s Premier League, Spurs have enjoyed their first taste of Champions League football and have already scored 18 goals in the tournament so far.

As they prepare for tonight’s last 16 meeting with AC Milan in the San Siro Redknapp was quick to play up his squads chances of ongoing success.

He said: “The opportunity is there, for sure.

“If we keep on bringing the top players we can achieve whatever we want.

“The owners are more important than I am as the manager and I think that they want to compete.

“The transfer window came and we were willing to go and buy a top player but we just couldn’t find a player that we wanted.

“It was difficult but if the right people came along then I think the club would sit down and do it.

“If Tottenham did that then the sky is the limit for us for the next few years.”

Redknapp added: “There is nothing between us and Arsenal.

“We are right on the coat-tails of Manchester City and Arsenal too.

“We are above Chelsea and we are not a million miles off from Man United. A few years ago we would be miles behind them clubs.”
