Barcelona trail 2-1 from the first leg, where they were without the injured Puyol, and lost their other centre back, Gerard Pique to suspension following a yellow card at the Emirates.
Arsenal are in a similar situation with captain Cesc Fabregas also fighting to be fit for the big game.
Barcelona’s Pique predicted his 32 year-old team mate would be fit for the return clash, and expressed his own dismay at missing out on the game.
“I am totally gutted to miss it, but I’m an optimist and I think Carles will be ready – he still has a few days ahead to get fit,” he said.
“If I had to bet, I would bet that he would be ready for the game against Arsenal.”
