Manny ‘Pacman’ Pacquiao (54-3-2) and Timothy ‘Desert Storm’ Bradley (28-0) have begun their press tour in preparation for their welterweight showdown this summer. The much anticipated fight between Pacquiao and Mayweather seems unlikely anytime soon, as the American is set to fight middleweight champion Miguel Cotto in May.

Declined £25 million

There were predictions that a Mayweather and Pacquiao fight could have been the most profitable fight of all time. Recently news has come out that the Filipino fighter declined £25 million to fight Mayweather, who himself demanded £95 million from TV rights.

It was suggested that the Mayweather had offered Pacquiao a guaranteed purse which did not include any cash from pay-per-view, any money made from TV rights would go to the American. If Mayweather wanted the fight then the deal offered would not motivate the Filipino, who agreed to a 50/50 split.

In response to the offer Pacquiao said: “I don’t accept that offer. It’s kind of embarrassing to me. It’s trying to take advantage of me. He doesn’t want to fight.”

Pacquiao and Bradley will finally come together on 9th June at  the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, the press conference saw the two fighters get along rather well.

Bob Arum, Hall of Fame Boxing Promoter, has welcomed all the attention the fight is getting after the heavyweight fight last weekend put boxing in the news for the wrong reasons. He revealed that the he himself does not have to sell the fight, both boxers are respected and the battle is predicted to be a boxing classic.

The Bradley camp have showed well deserved respect to Manny Pacquiao and his team, and the respect was returned from the Filipino. The warrior Pacquiao is almost certain to do his talking in the ring which sets the fight up perfectly, with the younger undefeated fighter not just looking to protect to his ‘0’ loss count but ready to dethrone the pound for pound best.

Shocking upset

While Manny Pacquiao is no stranger to distractions and the media limelight, there are suggestions that this will finally catch up with the congressman  who could potentially experience a shocking upset.

Pacquiao has looked less than his best in his past few fights yet he has still come out with a victory. He himself will know that he may have underperformed, which sends the interest in this fight flying as he will want to prove his critics wrong.
