Newcastle United have come out and told Sky Sports News that they have actually rejected the second bid for Andy Carroll, despite previous reports to the contrary.
Despite this, the England International is still believed to be on his way to the north-west to discuss a move to Liverpool amid a hectic last day of transfer activity.
The first bid, believed to have been for £30million was rejected this morning and an improved bid, worth a reported £35million was believed to have been accepted.
However, Newcastle have rubbished those reports, and sources say the offer, actually worth £32.5million was turned down in the end.
The 22 year old striker may still yet make the move from Newcastle to Liverpool, but only if the two clubs can agree the deal.
The lack of news coming out of either Chelsea or Liverpool regarding Fernando Torres £50million move is believed to be because the Liverpool striker will only be allowed to leave if a suitable replacement is found.
Strangely, Chelsea fans hopes seem to be resting on the shoulders of Mike Ashley and the Liverpool owners, Fenway Sports Group.
