Obafemi Martins revealed that his Carling Cup winner was the easiest goal of his career, after writing his name into Birmingham City folklore.
Martins came on as a late substitute and scored the winner following a defensive mix up between Wojciech Szczesny and Laurent Koscielny.
Martins, who played for Newcastle in the Premier League, is currently on loan from Rubin Kazan at Birmingham and admitted after the game, “I think this is the easiest goal I’ve ever scored in my career – and it’s very important.
“I’m glad I scored today and I’m glad we won. I think it was my second touch. I’m very happy.
“The gaffer said to me that I would come on in the second half, so I think he did it right.
“It means a lot to the fans and players – we really need this trophy.”
