Roberto Mancini has explained how the prospect of a Wembley appearance will give his team all the motivation they need come Sunday.
Manchester City face Championship Reading at Eastlands tomorrow and are overwhelming favourites to win their FA Cup quarter final and secure a place in the Wembley semi finals.
City have been trophy less for over 35 years, and Mancini is looking to the FA Cup as their best chance of ending that run.
Roberto Mancini has revealed the prospect of playing at Wembley will lift his Manchester City side on Sunday.
Mancini said, “The FA Cup is really important to us. It’s a really big chance for us to get to Wembley.
“We know how long it’s been since the last semi-final so this would be good for us, good for the club and the fans.
“It’s a really difficult tie for us because Reading have shown what they are capable of by beating Everton. We know from this season’s FA Cup that every tie can be hard.”
City could still progress in the Europa League, but are 2-0 down to Andrei Shevchenko’s Dinamo Kiev and will have to play well to win the return leg in Manchester on Thursday.
“The Europa League is going to be hard for us, but we still have a chance. In football, you never know. It should be different in Manchester. The next few days will be important,” added Mancini.
