Roberto Mancini has admitted his interest in Javier Pastore but denied contact
Manchester City boss Roberto Mancini responded to Palermo president, Maurizio Zamparini’s suggestion that City made a transfer deadline day enquiry about the midfielder, by declaring his interest, but denying any personal contact.
The Argentine is highly rated, and his Sicilian owners have stuck a 100million euro price tag on him, although that may not even deter City.
The 21 year-old has been the outstanding performer in the Italian League over the past two seasons and Mancini is a keen follower of the nations football.
Whilst he was happy to admit an interest, Mancini said that any approach had not come from him.
Mancini said, “Palermo’s president Zamparini said he received a call from City for Pastore, but he doesn’t speak English?
“This means that I wasn’t on the phone, otherwise I would have spoken in Italian.
“City are interested in good players, and Pastore is good, just like Cavani, and many others.”
Mancini also responded to suggestions that Mario Balotelli may be on his way back to Inter Milan in the summer, by urging him to concentrate on his football at Eastlands.
“I am not worried about his will to return to Italy. For now he must think about doing well here,” said Mancini.
