Manchester Uniteds 26 year old Danish international goalkeeper has revealed that he was put on a fitness regime and diet the moment he arrived at the club.
The Dane was signed by United last November, and is widely tipped to succeed Edwin van der Saar as Uniteds number one when the Dutchman hangs up his gloves at the end of the season.
Speaking to a Danish paper, Lindegaard said, “The first thing that happened when I came is that I was put on a diet.
“In short, they told me I was too fat. I have been instructed when to eat and that it is only proteins, carbs and vegetables from now on.”
The stopper, who has made two FA Cup appearances so far, admits that he is willing to sacrifice, whatever it takes.
“There are rules that need to be followed,” he admitted. “Or, as the manager says, ‘it is worth it (the dieting regime) when your career is over and you are standing there with a lot of medals hanging around your neck’.”
