Chelsea’s Frank Lampard has suggested that he would relish the chance to play alongside Liverpool striker Fernando Torres.

Reports this morning have indiciated that Chelsea are lining up a second £40million bid to bring the Spanish world cup winner to Stamford Bridge and further test the Anfield clubs resolve.

Liverpool turned down a £35million bid on Thursday, which was enough to convince the player to hand in a transfer request.

Torres was promptly told he was not for sale and that he would be expected to hgonour his contract but that hasn’t stopped Chelsea dreaming.

Frank Lampard was asked about the prospect of another world class player joining the club and indicated he would be ‘very welcome’ at the Blues.

Lampard also said, “Players of a top, top level and world-class players will always help your squad,”

“It remains to be seen what happens with the club – who they bring in and who the manager wants to bring in – but they’ll always be very welcome from us.”

With just over 36 hours left to secure a deal, can Liverpool hold onto their prize asset, or will Chelsea add Torres to Drogba in their bid for European success this season?
