Former Bolton player Kevin Nolan, has defended Newcastle team mate, Ryan Taylors tackle against Bolton Wandered striker Johan Elmader, which saw him rightly see red.
Nolan said that Taylor would never try to intentionally hurt an opponent and claimed it was an honest tackle.
Newcastle drew 1-1 with Bolton, in a game that was marred by the tackle.
Nolan refused to argue with the red card, but did defend his team mate.
Speaking to his clubs website, Nolan said, “Ryan is an honest lad and it was an honest tackle.”
“The boy (Elmander) has gone down like he’s been shot which is not nice, because two minutes later he’s up and running around like a madman.
“That’s what we don’t like about it, but it’s two-footed and we’ve got no complaints.
“We know what Ryan is like though – he will never hurt, or try to hurt, a fellow professional ever.”
