Portuguese manager Jose Mourinho quietly went about reaching an amazing milestone on Saturday night as he went 9 years unbeaten in the league at home.
Real Madrid defeated Levante, which means Mourinho hasn’t lost a home league match since he was manager of Portuguese team Porto, who lost 3-2 to Beira Mar on 23 February 2002.
In that time Mourniho has moved to Chelsea in the Premier League, Inter Milan in the Italian league and Real Madrid in La Liga, and will be hoping the visit of Barcelona later this year doesn’t end his streak.
The run takes in an astonishing 148 games, of which Jose’s teams have won 125, and drawn the other 23.
If you work that out on a points basis, Jose’s teams have won 398 out of 444 possible home points, and may explain why he has been one of the most successful bosses of the modern era.
