Wigan’s Steve Gohouri hopes that the weekend’s battling point against resurgent Liverpool can give the team the shot in the arm they need to survive for another season.
The Latics have had an alarming slump in form of late, but hung on to a wonderful point, as they drew 1-1 on Merseyside.
Wigan are now unbeaten in three, but avoid the relegation zone only on goal difference, and will hope that confidence is returning to the side.
He told the Wigan Evening Post.”We just never stopped believing that we could get something out of the game,”
“We knew we were playing well in the game and we deserved to get our goal.
“We came here with a great deal of confidence after last week’s win over Blackburn, and that gave us a real spring in our step.
“We knew we had nothing to lose at Anfield and we showed a great deal of character to get a result.
“To get a point at Liverpool can only help our confidence in the dressing room even further, and hopefully that will stand us in good stead.”
