Giggs to play for at least one more year as he signs new deal

Manchester United’s record appearance holder has signed a deal that will see him continue his Manchester United career into an amazing 21st season.

The star, who is closing in on 900 appearances for the league leaders has continued to perform well during this, his 20th season for the club.

United fans will be delighted to hear the news, after Van Der Saar, and Gary Neville both announced their retirements in the past two weeks.

Ryan Giggs, 37, has played and scored in every Premier League season since 1993, and has won a record 11 titles with the team, as well as 2 Champions Leagues.

Giggs told the clubs website upon signing the deal,

“All I’ve ever wanted to do is play for United and I’ve been lucky enough to do that for 20 years.”

“It is great to know I’m still contributing to the team’s success and I feel I’ve got a lot to offer on and off the pitch.

“This is an exciting time to be involved with so many good young players coming through.”

Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has been at the club even longer than Ryan Giggs and praised the players exceptional performance over the years.

“You run out of words to describe Ryan Giggs,” explained Ferguson. “He is a marvellous player and a wonderful man.

“To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level in such a physically demanding position at his age requires a special person.

“He is still turning in man of the match performances and his experience is so vital for the younger players in the squad.”
