Ryan Giggs has signed a new 12 month contract at Manchester United.
The veteran midfielder will next season enter his 21st campaign for Manchester United, highlighting his glittering career for the Premiership leaders.
Manager Alex Ferguson and CEO David Gill had confirmed a few weeks back that United would be entering in talks with Giggs to prolong his stay for a further season.
Manchester United fans got the news they were waiting to hear today, when it was confirmed that Giggs had indeed signed a new 12 month contract with the club.
The Welshman has played and scored in every Premier League campaign, and has won a coveted 11 Premier League Titles with United.
“All I’ve ever wanted to do is play for United and I’ve been lucky enough to do that for 20 years,” stated Giggs on United’s club website.
“It is great to know I’m still contributing to the team’s success and I feel I’ve got a lot to offer on and off the pitch”, Giggs said.
Sir Alex Ferguson was once again full of praise for the evergreen midfielder.
“You run out of words to describe Ryan Giggs,” stated Ferguson. “He is a marvellous player and a wonderful man.”
“To have the desire and the ability to play at the top level in such a physically demanding position at his age requires a special person.”
Sir Alex spoke of the contribution Giggs continues to make on the pitch for United.
“He is still turning in man of the match performances and his experience is so vital for the younger players in the squad.”
“This is an exciting time to be involved with so many good young players coming through.”
