Manchester United midfielder Darron Gibson has warned United’s Champions League opponents, Marseille, that they will face a different United side to the one they held to a 0-0 draw in France.
United and Marseille played out a dull 0-0 at the Stade Velodrome three weeks ago, with neither team posing much of an attacking threat.
Marseille travel to Old Trafford tomorrow night to face what Gibson believes will be an entirely different Manchester United threat.
“Both teams just cancelled each other on the night,” said Gibson.
“There wasn’t many chances to be honest, but coming back to Old Trafford it will be a different story.
“They sat back and soaked up the pressure we were putting on them and we just cancelled each other out.
“Obviously they need a result and we are at home so they have to come out going for it and we will obviously be going for it as well, but it plays into our hands because we are at Old Trafford.
“They are a good side, but I think we can beat them if we play well.”
Gibson scored his first goal in Europe last year as United lost to Bayern at home, and will be hoping for a better result this time round.
“I would love it to be a special night at Old Trafford, but I want to get a result this time as obviously we got put out last time,” added Gibson.
“I would be delighted to play again and to score would be unbelievable.”
