Frank Lampard’s latest injury setback not serious say Chelsea

England international Frank Lampards latest injury scare has been described as a minor knock by Chelsea.

The calf injury, which was sustained in training this morning, left Lampard unable to finish the session, but Chelsea doctors claimed that he would be fit for the Bolton game on Monday night.

The statement, made of the clubs official website, said that a scan had shown no serious damage.

Lampard has only just returned to the Chelsea team, having missed the first 4 months in the season.

Chelsea currently sit fourth, having thrown away a glorious start to the season and are now struggling to put together a run of form to get back to the top.

Chelsea need all the players they can get after they failed to replace the likes of Michael Ballack and Ricardo Carvalho, who both left in the summer.

Earlier this week they were beaten to the signature of Everton star, Steven Pienaar, who went to Tottenham instead. The South African international provided further proof that the power is shifting in London and that Romans millions won’t lead to Chelsea having it all their own way.

Just yesterday Chelsea striker Didier Drogba admitted that the team would be lucky to string together two wins, let alone win the title this season, and Chelsea may have to concentrate on their participation in the FA Cup and Champions League in their hunt for silverware.
