Manchester United defender and England Captain Rio Ferdinand Could miss the remainder of the season with his current calf injury.
The experienced defender has had a stop start campaign this year as a result of injury, which has also jeapordised his position as England captain.
Ferdinand has not played for United since suffering an injury during his warm up prior to United’s 2-1 defeat by Wolves.
Sir Alex Ferguson had stated his belief that the defender would be available for the business end of the season.
However, it is now feared that Ferdinand will play no part in United quest to claim an unlikely treble.
Rio has been out for a few weeks now,” stated Ferguson.
“We are not looking at this as a short-term situation.
“He has not started training yet. We will be lucky to get him back for some part of the season.”
The news comes as a blow to Ferguson, who has also lost John O Shea and Rafael to injury for the coming weeks.
