Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson joked yesterday that he could play suspended Rafael anyway in todays match against Birmingham, with his twin brother Fabio’s shirt on, and no one would ever know.

Rafael de Silva is suspended for todays clash at Old Trafford after getting sent off for two bookings against Spurs last week at White Hart Lane, the second being a highly debateable decision.

The De Silva twins, Rafael and Fabio are said to be so alike, the staff can only tell them apart by Fabio’s wedding ring, which they allegedly swap on a regular basis to play tricks on the other players.

When asked if a DNA test might be required to check if Sir Alex was pulling a fast one, he replied smiling, “They are probably the same.”

Manchester United also welcome back Paul Scholes, who has been out for over 10 weeks with injury and returned to the bench against Tottenham.

Sir Alex is looking forward to having the United legend back saying, “I was going to put him on against Tottenham until Rafa got sent off. It’s good to have him back. He’s had a little break, which knowing Paul’s history over the years when he’s had a bad injury and come back he’s always been nice and fresh so that’s good news for us.”

United’s last five games against Birmingham have ended 1-0 or 1-1 so it will be interesting to see if someone can score more than 1 today at Old Trafford.
