Alex Ferguson received a huge boost last night as number one target to replace Edwin van der Sar, Hugo Lloris admitted he would be interested in a move to the Premier League leaders.
Van der Sar has been Uniteds number one for five years now but will hang up his gloves at the end of the season, leaving Fergie sweating over finding a good replacement.
Fergie is still haunted by his failure to adequately replace Peter Schmeichel, who was their last great stopper.
After spells with Bosnich, Taibi and Barthez, United finally turned to Van der Sar, but not before losing vital games due to goalkeeping calamities.
Lloris on the other hand is highly rated, and the 24-year-old French number one is the ideal age to become United number one for years to come.
It would still take some work on United’s part to get hold of the goalkeeper, who has claimed he is happy at Lyon for now.
“Manchester United is a great football club, They are one of the most successful clubs in the world, so, of course, Manchester is one of the clubs that make me dream.
“Moreover, it is unfortunate to lose a keeper like Van der Sar because even at 40 he is still able to do exceptional things. I also think he could keep playing.
“But for me, there is no question of leaving Lyon for the moment.”
