Novak Djokovic has reached the final of the Australian Open after beating defending champion Roger Federer in Melbourne.
Djokovic cruised through the gears in just three hours to beat the 16 time grand slam champion in straight sets, 7-6 (7-3), 7-5, 6-4.
Third seed Djokovic, now seems to have one up on Federer, after beating him at the same stage of last years US Open. The 23 year old has only one major to his name, winning here in Melbourne three years ago, but that didn’t stop him this morning.
The Serb won the first set in a tight tie break, before Federer fought back and led 5-2 in the second. Just when it looked like the Swiss master may be back in the game, Federer suffered meltdown and lost 5 games on the bounce to lose the second set 7-5.
Djokovic won the third, breaking to go 5-4 up and serving out for his place in the Final, where he will play either Britain’s Andy Murray, or David Ferrer of Spain.
