The £24 million man moved this week from Sunderland in controversial circumstances, with his former club claiming he was tapped up. Bent handed in a transfer request and was allowed to leave for the bumper sum.
The goal came after 18 minutes when Ashley Young came forward, took a low shot which Joe Hart saved, but only into the path of Darren Bent, who finished it off from close range.
