Scottish Premier League side Celtic have agreed a pre-contract deal to take Cardiff City defender Adam Matthews to Parkside in the summer.
Matthews will move north to Scotland in July and will sign a four year deal after his Cardiff deal runs out in the summer.
The 19 year-old is a highly rated full back and Celtic manager Neil Lennon has had his eye on him for a while.
Cardiff haven’t been playing Matthews but will be due compensation from Celtic for the player.
A Celtic statement said, “Celtic are delighted to announce that they’ve signed defender Adam Matthews on a pre-contract agreement.
“The 19-year-old, who currently plays for Cardiff City, is one of the most exciting young prospects in the Championship, and it’s a real coup for the club to have secured his signing.
“Matthews, a Wales Under-21 internationalist, will join the Hoops on July 1 on a four-year contract, and will link up with his former Cardiff City team-mate and fellow Welshman, Joe Ledley, who has proved to be a great signing for the club already this season.”
