So just minutes after Newcastle told the media they had declined Liverpool’s bid for their 22 year old star striker Andy Carroll, The Merseyside club have revealed that the bid has finally been accepted.
The deal, which is surely not the end of a dramatic final day of transfer activity, happened after Andy Carroll handed in a transfer request, forcing Newcastle’s hand and making them reluctantly accept.
“Liverpool FC confirmed this afternoon that Newcastle United had accepted a club record offer for the transfer of Andy Carroll.
“The club have been given permission by Newcastle to discuss personal terms with the player, who will now travel to Liverpool for a medical.” Said Liverpool on their website.
With Suarez also at Anfield in a £22.8million move the door is surely open for Torres to join Chelsea in a £50million move, as the champions look to get their season back on track.
Carroll is now undergoing a medical and will discuss personal terms to get the deal through before the 11pm deadline.
Charlie Adam could be joining him as we understand that he is also on his way to Liverpool to discuss terms with the 5time European champions’.
Will Torres now get his dream move, or will Liverpool retain his services and have one of the most lethal strike forces ever assembled?
