England international Michael Carrick is looking forward to the buzz of playing Champions League football again as Manchester United prepare to take on Marseille in France.
The competition resumed for two of England’s teams last week, as both Arsenal and Tottenham took a one goal winning margin into their respective second legs.
Carrick watched both games and found it strange not being involved.
He was part of the 2008 Champions League winning side, who beat Chelsea on penalties in Moscow, and will hope United can make similar progress again this year.
“The buzz you get with the Champions League is something that no other competition brings,” said Carrick.
“It was strange watching Tottenham and Arsenal last week and not being involved.
“We have had to wait an extra week but we are ready for it.”
