Bayern Munich have made the bizarre decision to sack their manager at the end of the season, but have announced it now.
Louis van Gaal has been under fire at Bayern for some time, as despite the clubs form in the Champions League, domestically they have been woeful.
Back to back losses in the Bundesliga to Borussia Dortmund and Hannover coupled with a German Cup loss to Schalke has seen pressure grow on van Gall, and the club have finally had enough.
But with their team sitting fifth in the Bundesliga the club haven’t ordered the manager to pack his bags just yet, but have told him he will be out at the end of the season.
Van Gaals contract runs for another year but Bayern will dissolve the last 12 months of the deal, citing, “a difference in opinion about the strategic direction of the club”, before adding that there were still certain “minimum achievements” to be reached this season.
Bayerns one hope this season remains the Champions League, where they lead Inter Milan 1-0 after a good away performance, and welcome the Italian holders to the Allianz Arena next week and hope to finish the job.
