Arsenals Fabianski set to miss rest of the season as he goes under the knife for soldier surgery

Arsenal goalkeeper Lukask Fabianski will have surgery on his problem soldier injury, and is likely to miss the rest of the season while recovering.

The 25 year old stopper, cruelly labelled ‘Flapianski’ by visiting supporters has not played for Arsenal since aggravating an existing injury warming up for the match against Manchester City in January.

The goalkeeper injured the shoulder warming up before the goalless draw with other Arsenal goalkeeper, Wojciech Szczesny, who has been Arsenals first choice goalkeeper ever since.

Szczesny told a Polish website, “I was warming Fabian up before the game with Manchester City and I took a very powerful shot.

“He made a beautiful save but also got an injury. I didn’t do it on purpose, I was just doing my job. I feel stupid about it. I even told him it would have been better if he didn’t save that shot. I take advantage of my team-mate’s misfortunes.”

After consulting with a specialist, the Polish international, Fabianski has decided to have the operation and said, “The doctors expect me to take a long break, but we’ll see if that will happen.”
