Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger, has confirmed that Arsenal are hot on the heels of Southampton wonder kid Alex Chamberlain.
The 17 year old winger, dubbed the new Theo Walcott, has attracted interest from Manchester United and City, Liverpool and Wenger’s Arsenal.
Chamberlain is regarded as one of the most sought after youngsters in English football, and has turned in some impressive displays for Southampton this season.
Although Alex Ferguson and a Liverpool representative have been to see Chamberlain play this season, Arsenal appear to be winning the race to sign the talented midfielder.
“We will try now”, Wenger told a reporter.
“We need an agreement with the player, and we are not the only ones on the case”.
Elsewhere in London, West Ham have completed the signing of Demba Ba on loan until the end of the season.
The Hoffenheim striker will provide some much needed attacking force to Avram Grants side as they attempt to beat the drop.
It appears that Ryan Babel’s proposed switch to Hoffenheim is off, after Liverpool manger Kenny Dalglish confirmed the winger is to stay at Liverpool.
However, it looks as though he may be joined by Blackpool captain Charlie Adam, after he submitted a transfer request to the Manger Ian Holloway this morning.
The Scottish midfielder has drawn interest from Liverpool, and Aston Villa, with Blackpool rejecting bids from both clubs.
Holloway has said that it will take a bid over with the ‘number one’ in front of it to take his prize asset away from Blackpool.
