As news spread that the toppled Libyan leader Gaddafi had died, rebel fighters were dancing and celebrating whilst shooting guns to display their happiness over a man that had a tight grip over the country for almost 42 years.
However, in the midst of the jubilation the prize find has been the leaders gold plated hand gun which was paraded through the streets as the trophy symbolising the victory over the leader.
The treasured gun which was thinly covered in a layer of gold was one of many that the dictator had in his possession and it was taken from the him during his final stand before rebel fighters shot him dead during an attack on his birthplace.
He was wounded in both his legs and finally shot twice in the head as the rebels who were backed by NATO attacked a convoy which was trying to escape the town of Sirte which is on the coast of Libya.
To confirm the dictators demise a mobile phone picture has been released which reveals the leader’s arrest and there are videos circulating of his body.
Minister Mahmoud Shammam has said that it has been confirmed that Gaddafi is dead through talks he has had with fighters who have seen his body.
The leaders pistol looked to be a Browning Hi Power which is a 9mm handgun that is currently used by military forces around the world and at one point was used by the SAS.
Golden Kalashnikov AK-47
His guns have been called iconic especially the Browning and it was part of a collection of gilded guns. In August rebels had already taken control of the golden Kalashnikov AK-47 assault rifle from the leaders Bab al-Aziziya compound with many arguing that the rifle was a Dragunov sniper rifle.
During his time Gaddafi loved gold and had many other gold items in his home and that love was extended to his arms collection.
