Mobile phone manufacturer Nokia has announced plans to create a “broad strategic partnership” with Microsoft.

The company have said the partnership would see Nokia using the Windows operating system for its smartphones.

Microsoft search engine Bing will power the Nokia phones search services, with Nokia Maps becoming a core part of Microsoft’s mapping system.

Nokia Chief Executive Stephen Elop sent a Memo to all staff warning that the company was in crisis earlier this week.
