During the Camerons’ visit to the White House, Samantha Cameron showed off a number of outfits from British designers. The couples’ first inaugural visit to the States proved to be a success, during which Mrs Cameron went against convention by choosing to wear a minimal, laid-back very British wardrobe.

Contrasting fashion choices

There has been a great deal of attention given to Mrs Cameron’s role as ambassador for the British Fashion Council, and she makes sure she is wearing designer outfits on every possible occasion. The two ladies could not be more different when it comes to their fashion choices.

On her visit to Ground Zero in New York, Mrs Cameron was seen wearing the perfect outfit for the occasion. She did nothing to take the attention away from the memorial site, wearing a flattering long-sleeved dress in dark blue with a high collar.

Her look was completed with a black Fenwick belt and shoes which were designed by Manolo Blahnik. The Prime Minister’s wife is a long standing fan of London based designer Emilia Wickstead, who is known for her classic creations.

Dress Style

The day David Cameron became Prime Minister she was seen wearing one of the designers royal blue frocks. When Carla Bruni-Sarkozy visited the 10 Downing Street she was wearing a black-and-white dress.

Samantha Cameron was not the only one of the two ladies supporting their home designers when they met, as Michelle Obama was seen wearing a teal Marchesa gown that had been designed by Georgina Chapman.

The gown worn by Mrs Cameron which was designed by Alessandra Rich are available for around $3,000.
