Sainsbury’s act on their research with new reward credit card offer

Sainsbury’s finance have proved they listen to their customers by releasing a new reward credit card, just weeks after conducting research that found the majority of Britons would welcome better rewards for using their credit cards.

The new card will offer customers reward for their loyalty in the form of Nectar points, and provides a juicy welcome bonus for customers signing up by May 23rd.

Nectar points, which can be used in outlets such as Argos and Homebase, work in a similar way to Tesco clubcard points and customers building up points can use them to buy things in participating stores.

The new credit card will give customers two points for every pound they spend in Sainsbury’s stores and petrol stations, as well as 3,000 bonus Nectar points when using the card for the first time.

The double Nectar points offer isn’t just an introductory offer either, with the deal lasting at least two years meaning customers will get what they expect for a lot longer than other reward cards with just 3 month offers on the table.

The firm has been rewarded for its range of products by picking up the Best Online Credit Card Provider at the Your Money Awards 2010.

Customers using the card in non Sainsbury’s outlets can earn 1 point for each full five pounds they spend, a rate which won’t attract non Sainsbury’s customers but is better than cards that offer no reward.

You can also earn Nectar points on your normal Nectar card at the same time, so you effectively earn four points for every pound spent.
