In the aftermath of the terrorist attack in the Domodedovo Airport in Moscow yesterday, Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has criticized the management of the busy airport.
Yesterday’s explosion saw the death of 35 people as a result of a suicide bombing in the arrival area of the airport.
Medvedev told members of the Russian media that the management of Domodedovo Airport should be held responsible for terrorist attack as they did not have the correct security measures in place.
“What happened at Domodedovo shows the airport lacked security,” Stated Medvedev.
“It’s unbelievable that such a huge amount of explosives were brought into the terminal. Those officials responsible for security at Domodedovo must be punished for their decisions. This is a terror attack, a grief, a tragedy”.
The explosion echoed through the international arrivals section of the airport around 4.30 pm yesterday.
The Russian Ministry of Emergency Situations reported; that there were 110 people injured as a result of the blast, and they are still being treated in hospital.
It was reported yesterday by the Russian National Anti-Terrorist Committee that 35 people had been killed and 152 wounded from the blast.
It is not clear who is responsible for the attack, with no party claiming responsibility for the attack.
Militants from the North Caucasus region have been responsible for previous terrorist attacks in Russia.
Medvedev issued a message of intent to those responsible for the attack.
“We must do everything in order for the criminals who committed this crime to be established, found and brought to justice. And the nest where these bandits are hiding, whatever their name is, should be exterminated “, stated the Russian President.
