Manchester United manager Sit Alex Ferguson revealed that Rio Ferdinand would not be fit for United’s big game with Chelsea on Tuesday night next week, but that Owen is back.
Both Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will be missing from United’s squad for the team that faces Wigan away on Saturday, as United’s squad is stretched to the limit.
Ferdinand injured a calf warming up against Wolves earlier in the month, and is still out, but may be back by next weekend for United’s trip to Anfield.
“Rio Ferdinand and Jonny Evans will be available for next week, and that means the Liverpool game,” said Ferguson.
Owen has recovered from a groin injury and could make his comeback against Wigan.
“Michael is back training and could be available tomorrow,” added Ferguson.
Ryan Giggs may also make the game against Wigan, but Valencia, Park and Anderson are still out for the Old Trafford club.
“The situation has not changed very much,” added Ferguson.
“We are trying to get Ryan fit.”
Talking about Valencia Fergie said,”It is difficult to assess Antonio Valencia because he is doing very well, he is in contact training now,” revealed Ferguson.
“He has been taking part in all the sessions, so it is just that decision to play him in terms of his own confidence after such a long time out. It could be two weeks. We are hopeful.
“Park Ji-sung will be another two weeks and Anderson three, depending on how his progress goes because he is over in Portugal at the moment.”
