Glasgow based company Aggreko will be supplying power to the 2012 London Olympics and Paralympic games, the company announced today on its website. The contract is valued at around £37 million and the company will be a sponsor for both the events.
The company supplies electricity generators for major events and has been contracted to supply 220 megawatts of power for the two events, more than the 160 megawatts it had supplied in Beijing Olympics in 2008.
The company had also supplied electricity to the Vancouver Winter Olympics and the South African football world cup – its biggest ever contract by revenues.
Last Friday the company raised its profit outlook because football world cup revenues grew by £29 million.
The events division recorded a 19% jump in profits over last year same period as revenues grew from £48.5 million to £85 million this year.
The company has around 5,000 employees worldwide and is the leader in the rental of power and temperature control systems business.
