Car owners have seen insurance premiums soar.

The latest data reported from the EMB Car Insurance Price Index revealed that car insurance premiums have increased more that 14 per cent during the 2nd quarter of 2010.

Keep in mind, these premiums only increased 4.3 per cent and 6.3 per cent during the previous 2 quarters, respectively.

During the second quarter, a total 74 pounds was added.  This brings the total annual increase to 142 pounds or 31 per cent.

The increase affected drivers in their 40′s or 50′s the most.  Women drivers in this group who included children and others, but no husbands, their policies were hit the hardest.

The regions of Manchester, Northern Ireland and Inner London saw increases in premiums compared to other areas.  Many believe UK car owners might see even harsher times with insurance premiums, as many comparison Internet sites are driving up competition.
