Amazon.co.uk will now offer 22,000 grocery item lines to UK customers.

Amazon, the book selling giant, has added grocery items to it’s UK line.  There will be 22,000 top grocery item lines such as Pampers, Uncle Ben’s, Dolmo, Kraft, Ariel, Oreo, Schwartz and Purina pet food products.  Individual and bulk buying items will be offered.  The grocery line offer follows Amazon UK’s entrance into the musical instrument market.

This offer will allow shopping of international products, as well as specialty products such as kosher items, organic and gluten free items.  Orders can usually be delivered the next day and shipping is free for those with a membership fee of 49 pounds.  The grocery line will be supported by using the UK’s fulfillment centres.

James Leeson, Director of Grocery at Amazon.co.uk Ltd, said: “Amazon.co.uk’s aim is to be the place where customers can find and discover any product they want to buy online, and with the introduction of this new store there are thousands of household, niche, ethnic, and international grocery items, all available at the click of a button.

“With unlimited virtual shelf space customers can choose from a wide variety of products, all of which benefit from free delivery.  We will work tirelessly to increase the selection of grocery items available to be delivered directly to customers’ doors.”

Amazon boosts 160 million customers worldwide and operates in the UK, US, Canada, Japan, China, France, and Germany.
