X Factor: Judges To Sing With Their Own Acts

This weekend will see the finale of the 2011 X Factor competition which will be a little different to past finale shows. It was confirmed this week that the judges will sing with their own remaining acts. Contestant Marcus Collins will sing alongside his mentor Gary Barlow from boy band Take That, Little Mix will perform with their mentor Tulisa Contostavlos from NDubz and finally Kelly Rowland will duet with her act Amelia Lily.

The show finale will take place at Wembley Arena, London with Leona Lewis, One Direction and Coldplay performing on the night. Coldplay agreed to perform on the night but refused to duet with any of the acts.

The bosses at X Factor are hoping the show will pull in an estimated 20 million viewers. At a recent press conference with the judges, Gary Barlow commented about the judges performance saying “The judges will be more nervous than the acts”.

Barlow and his act Marcus will duet on Billy Joel’s ‘Always A Women’, whereas Kelly Rowland and her Act Amelia Lily will sing Ike and Tina Turner’s ‘River Deep, Mountain High’ and finally Tulisa and her act Little Mix will perform a medley of Alicia Keys hits including, ‘If I Ain’t Got You’ and ‘Empire State Of Mind’.

Barlow also mentioned that all contestants have already recorded the same song in the studio, but only the winner’s version will be released in time for Christmas. Earlier this week HMV came under attack for selling Amelia Lily’s ‘winners single’ five days before the show ends, which started rumours that the show was fixed. HMV apologised for the accidental upload of the track onto their site, going on to say that it had nothing to do with the final winner decision. It was also in news this week that Kelly Rowland and does not want her act Amelia to win. Whilst Lily has been out trying to gain support from fans Rowland was nowhere to be seen. A source from the show spoke out saying the reason Rowland does not want Lily to win is because she axed her from the show and it would look bad upon on her expert opinion so it would be better is she did not win.

The winner’s single will be competing for the Christmas number one spot, along with the campaign to get Nirvana’s Smell’s Like Teen Spirit to the number one spot and Justin Bieber’s collaboration with Mariah Carey on the track ‘All I Want For Christmas’.

This is the first time the show will be staged before an audience of this size, adding to the pressure is last years judge Simon Cowell who will be watching the show from the states.
