Johnny Depp, who plays Captain Jack Sparrow in the fourth instalment of the Disney franchise of Pirates walked amongst the crowds for almost two hours chatting to his devoted fans.
Fans who waited hours for the premiere to begin at Westfield London’s Vue Cinema were not left disappointed. Depp was joined by his co-star Penelope Cruz, who makes her debut in the lastest Pirate’s instalment.
Cruz seemed overwhelmed herself, explaining how much she enjoyed the role: “I loved playing a pirate as when I was a little girl I always used to play pirates so it’s like a dream come true!”
Perhaps the luckiest girl at the premiere was no-namer Beatrice Delap, a nine-year-old from Greenwich, south
London, who Depp invited to be his date for the event.
Earlier in the year, Beatrice had written Depp as he was filming the movie nearby. She had asked for his help in staging a mutiny at her school, The Meridian Primary School. Much to her shock, he popped in dressed as Jack Sparrow, giving just 10 minutes’ notice of his visit.
At the premiere, Beatrice was given the opportunity to interview Depp on the blue carpet, got a few hugs from him and was able to enjoy the rest of the evening as his guest.
