Latin Pop star Jennifer Lopez broke down on American Idol this week, after being forced to hand out a rejection to Chris Medina.
Chris, who revealed that he was caring for his brain damaged fiancé after she had been left brain damaged by a car crash, was told by J-Lo that he wouldn’t be going through to the next round.
Lopez started sobbing and cried “I don’t want to do this anymore” on the show. She later spoke to host Ryan Seacrest and said, “I just couldn’t believe I had to deliver this news to this person who had been through a lot. I felt like I didn’t it do it well enough to send him into where he needed to go in his life and be OK.”
She went on: “Even though I’m an emotional and passionate person, I’m very in control of my emotions. I’ve had to be, over the years, being in the public eye.
“This is the first experience, on Idol, where people are really getting to know who I am as a person. It’s great, because I’m proud of who I am as a person, but scary, because it’s such a vulnerable place to be.”
The show is now down to just 24 semi finalists, and the contestants will perform on Tuesday and Wednesday to decide who will go through to the final stages.
Viewers will be able to vote on Facebook from Tuesday as well in a reality TV first. Last week X Factor announced it was in talks with Facebook to set up a similar system.
