Celebrity head coach Karen Barber and panelist judge Jason Gardiner clashed last night after Jason slated the head coach’s expertise and credibility on Dancing on Ice.
It all started when Karen, 49, expressed that she thought the judges had marked Johnson Beharry VC too low. Jason snapped back at her remark by saying: “If your opinion still mattered then you’d be on the panel.”
A furious Karen swiftly got up from her seat next to the contestants, and stormed over to the Australian judge, jabbing her finger in his face and demanding he repeat what he’d just said.
She then went right up to the panel and said: “You know Jason, you really are so offensive. You bring so little to this panel.”
Karen was then caught on screen with tears streaming down her face.
Jason was quick to make a joke of the situation, saying: “We’ve added a new dimension to the competition – a fight! No not really. It’s Vegas night.”
Dancing on Ice host, Phillip Schofield, was initially left shocked by the exchange of words and could only manage a ‘Strewth!’ to the camera.
When the show started back after the advert break, Karen’s chair remained empty, leading to speculation that she’d stormed out of the studio.
However, she did return and Jason gave an apology at the start of the second half of the show, but Karen wouldn’t accept it and held up her hands to say she’d heard enough, calling him a ‘nasty, nasty man.’
Relations between the two former panelist judges have become increasingly icy since Karen was taken off the judging panel to become the head coach of the celebrity contestants.
As for who left the show this week, it was one of the early favourites. 27-year-old Jennifer Metcalfe, saw herself in the bottom two with Vanilla Ice after the public vote and was then voted off by the judges after the skate-off.
