Sir Anthony Hopkins may be an acting legend and Oscar winner but he has revealed he has few acting friends, and still writes fan mail to people he admires.

Hopkins, star of Silence of the Lambs, has another similar film out at the moment called ‘The Rite’ and admitted he wasn’t the biggest fan of red carpet events.

Despite winning an Oscar and being nominated for three more, Hopkins still finds time to write fan mail.

“I have very few friends that are actors but I enjoy watching them, I admire them and I’ll write fan letters to the ones I really admire. That’s what I do, I keep life simple,” he said.

“I’m a bit of a recluse as far as the acting business is concerned.”

Talking about his plans for the future, Hopkins said, “I’m just grateful to still be working. As long as they keep on giving me the parts until I lose my memory, which I’m not going to do because I keep it fresh.”

“People ask me, ‘Why do you work?’ Well, if they offer me work, I’d be foolish to turn it down. I don’t do everything, there are certain parts that I won’t do. I enjoy it, but I try not to take it too seriously.”
